If it's your first women's health appointment you might be wondering what to expect. The good news? These appointments are designed to support your health, answer your questions, and help you feel more confident.

When you arrive, we will start by asking about your medical history, lifestyle, medications, and any symptoms or concerns you may have. We may also discuss previous obstetric, birth history, menopause and general wellness. This is a great time to discuss your expectations and what you would like to get out of coming to physiotherapy.
Depending on the reason for your visit, your appointment may include a physical exam. This is always optional and not mandatory. We will explain each step and make sure you're comfortable throughout the process. An examination may include looking at your gait and alignment, hips, pelvis and abdominal function. It may also include an internal vaginal or rectal exam to help us better understand the function and control of your pelvic floor muscles.
Remember, there are no "silly" questions when it comes to your health. Women's health appointments are a safe space to discuss concerns, get expert guidance, and take proactive steps toward your well-being. Most importantly, don't be nervous. We are here to support you every step of the way.
